About our school

Troqueer Primary and Nursery is a large School in the Maxwelltown Area of Dumfries, located in between the Troqueer and Rotchell areas, on Pleasance Avenue.

There are over 300 children in the school, with a morning and afternoon Nursery, and 10 Primary Classes.

We believe that happy children are successful children.  Children flourish in an environment where they are nurtured, encouraged, praised and celebrated.  We want every child to reach their potential academically, but we also seek to provide many wider opportunities including extra curricular clubs. We celebrate individual success with children through our achievement posters which we are linked to our accreditation system.

We focus on developing skills to enable our pupils to become the leaders of the future.  Our pupil voice groups, and community involvement are ways in which we provide challenge and opportunity within our curriculum.

Our school is at the heart of our community.  In our immediate locality we are supported by our local minister, our community police officer, The Rotary Club, Active Schools and parents.  Whilst valuing our local community, we raise awareness and contribute to our wider National and International communities also, raising funds for literacy equipment for our partner school in Kenya, and forging links in the USA with the University of Atlanta, supporting us in delivering outdoor education.
